I couldn’t put this book down, every chapter left me wanting to keep reading! I think I’ve found one of my new favorite authors and I’m adding more of their books to my to-read list. A great story about not getting stuck in the fantasy worlds we create and learning to embrace the world we live in. I loved the mystery aspect of this story and trying to figure everything out as it went along. I can only hope we get more of this story in the future, especially since I feel like we dropped the police investigation part of this story too quickly and easily.

I do like books that start midway into the story, and it was interesting to watch Kane try to decipher what’s true or not as he made sense of his lost memories. I did find some of the characters frustrating at some points, but I enjoyed the villainess and the interesting concept of the reveries. I also found Kane really sympathetic and relatable, especially at the beginning of the book.

This was an action-packed fantasy with a unique premise that played out in a really explosive cinematic way. I loved the found family vibes and the clever way the reveries came to life, but I clocked the villain as soon as they appeared and I found them a little too archetypal/caricatured at the end. On the whole though, this was a fun read and a solid fantasy.
