I love this author, she tells great stories, has wonderful heroes and heroines in her books, the females are strong/sassy/funny/likeable without being too in your face or over the top.
Loved this book too, Laine and Eric were a great couple. Robyn Carr also knows how to tackle serious issues, in this book we had a 17 year old boy called Justin who was a carer for his mum with MS and also struggled to keep his family together (his two younger brothers) and Laine's dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, real issues tackled and I'm enjoyed every book she has wrote so far.
Great side storyline with Ray Ann too, she's a side character since book one and she has really developed and grown on me, glad she found someone too, the lovely Al.

Thunder Point is home to many lovely people. I am glad to continue to get to know them in this series.
It was hard to hear Senior's struggles with my dad's age and needs.

Nice read not one of the best books of the series. I must admit that I was slightly disappointed. 2.5 - 3 Stars for this book.
Eric Gentry has moved to Thunder Point to be nearer to his daughter and set up his new business as a mechanic and body shop. He has paid his debt to society and has lived on the straight and narrow since then.
Laine after working undercover moves to Thunder Point to recuperate from a gun shot wound. There she meets Eric. The story wasn't bad and it was a pleasant read it just didn't knock me off my socks. I'm not Laine's biggest fan maybe that's why.

The fourth book in the Thunder Point series and as the previous book, this one as the others takes a look at different people in this small town in Oregon. In this one, a FBI agent moves to town after a very hard assignment that involves a previous character in the book and she is trying to decide what her next steps will be in her life both personally and professionally.
As always, Robyn Carr includes a little love, but what I like most about this series is that in each book different characters take center stage, but you still receive updates about the ones you have read in previous books. Eric and Laine were easy characters to get to know and it was interesting watching them learn about each other and see if their extremely different pasts would work well together.

I loved reading this one almost as much as the first with Sarah and Cooper. Having so much faith, trust, and great communication really made this one work.

The Chance was a really sweet, nice love story. It was just really...I can't figure out what I want to say. I just felt really good at the end. It was so nice and easy and not a lot of drama and just a really great read. A really clean romance which was nice. It seems like most books you have lots of drama at the end, but this really didn't. Yes there were some issues that had to be worked through, but it was just a nice read. It made me smile.
Laine and Eric are both new to town. Eric grew up in Thunder Point, but he left his then pregnant girlfriend and got into some trouble with the law. He didn't know he had a daughter, and in the last book when he did find out he did start to have a relationship with her. He moved back to town at the end of the last book to be closer to his daughter.
Lanie is an FBI agent who was also in the last book briefly. She was in the compound where Devon had been living undercover. She was trying to help the women and children escape. Since the shoot out at the end of the last book she has been having some issues sleeping and moving on. She takes a leave of absence and settles in Thunder Point for a year of relaxation. She needs to figure out if she wants to continue working for the FBI or what she wants to do now.
When Lanie and Eric meet they are both interested in each other. Eric doesn't really think he is good enough for her so he is kind of shy about it. Lanie finally takes charge and they start dating. They do have some ups and downs, but they are so sweet together. It is obvious that they both care about the other and they are both great people. Yes, Eric has a dark past, but he has learned from it and is a better person because of it. They help each other grow and become better people.
Lanie does have some family issues that need her attention later in the book. Since her family lives on the other side of the country this causes strain on her and Eric's relationship. Not drama, just makes them miss the other person. Eric is so supportive and knows that this is what Lanie needs to do. They both just try and figure out a way to make their situation work and it was great to read. I loved how supportive Eric always was and how he understood and didn't get all crazy about what happened.
There is also a second story in this book, the story of Ray Anne and Al. Ray Anne has been in all of the other books I believe, but she was never a main character. She seems like a bit of a flirt and I always pictured her as wearing clothing that is too young for her. I never really cared much for her, but she was a good secondary storyline in this book. Al has just rolled into town and is helping Eric at his shop. They are both attracted to each other and they start dating. Ray Anne is not known to be lucky in love. She has been married numerous times before, but with Al it is different. Al, on the other hand, doesn't stay in one place for long. He goes wherever he wants when things start getting to be too much. He has a great storyline with Justin and his brothers and it is just really sweet. Al doesn't think he can help the boys, but he does in his own way. Yes, Al messes up towards the end, but he ends up making everything right. Really a great secondary plot line.
Overall the book was a really nice read. You don't see too much of the other characters from prior books in this one. They are there, but there is not as much story with them in it as prior books have had. It was a really great read and I am excited for the next book.

As always with Robyn Carr's books, you are stepping into a well crafted story with friends from previous books and a lovely place you would love to live in. And the nice thing is you do not have to have read her other books to understand them.

Really good book. Laine first appeared in the previous book, The Hero, as the undercover FBI agent who helped Devon and others escape from the commune. She was shot during the operation and has returned to Thunder Point to recover. She had been put on desk duty which she hated, so she has taken a year's leave of absence to finish her recovery and decide what she wants to do now. Eric sold his business in Eugene and has moved to Thunder Point to be closer to his daughter. Neither is looking for a relationship, but the chemistry between them is too strong to ignore.
I loved both Laine and Eric. Laine is trying to figure out what she wants to do next. The undercover operation took a lot out of her besides the injury she sustained and she isn't sure that she wants to continue as an agent. She liked what she saw of Thunder Point and has gone there for her recovery time. It also gets her away from her father, who has always given her grief about her profession. She is drawn to Eric from the first time she met him, and she can see that he's interested too. I loved the way that she asked him out when he didn't move fast enough for her.
Eric is a pretty laid back kind of guy. After a less than stellar youth that earned him a stint in prison he has turned his life around. He spends most of his time building his new business and trying to spend time with his teenage daughter. He encounters Laine several times and is more attracted each time. He doesn't consider himself a good bet relationship wise, so he tries to keep his distance from Laine. That doesn't work, and they are soon deeply involved with each other.
I really liked to developing romance between them. They are honest with each other about their expectations, which reduces their chances of conflict. Those that they do have they are able to resolve fairly easily by talking things out. She is surprised by his prison record, but she doesn't let it stop her from getting to know Eric better. Laine's job as an FBI agent surprises Eric, and he has a hard time at first accepting that she constantly puts herself into dangerous situations. I loved her demonstration of how well she can take care of herself and Eric's reaction to it. It was a great illustration of how well the two of them suit each other. Though they started out as simply two adults enjoying each other's company, they soon found themselves in a much deeper relationship than they expected. I loved Eric's support of Laine as she dealt with her issues with her father. Laine's difficult relationship with her father takes an interesting turn when he shows up in Thunder Point. When those issues pulled them apart, their unhappiness at being separated was obvious. Eric worries that Laine won't be able to return to Thunder Point and he can't leave as he gets to spend time with his daughter. I was really rooting for them to get their HEA, and loved the way it worked out at the end.
I loved seeing Laine's relationships with various members of her family. As her relationship with Eric changes her, her relationships with her family change also. I loved seeing the discussions she had with her sister-in-law as they finally got to know each other. The changes she went through also affected the way she looked at her father and their relationship. Her pain as she deals with him is heartbreaking but also makes the resolution of that story line very satisfying.
There are also two wonderful side stories. An old friend and employee of Eric's shows up to work with him and takes a liking to Ray Anne. She has always been an interesting character with her flamboyant clothing and direct attitude. She and Al hit it off in an unexpected way, and I really enjoyed seeing the way she changes around him. This was the best so far in the series...I haven't cried in a book in years - but Al's reaction to Justin's crisis had me in tears! Great book!!!
