I usually love Sabrina Jeffries but for some reason the pace killed me and I could not get into this book. DNF at 35%

So drawn out. Turned otherwise compelling characters into something so boring. The female main character turns into a completely different person halfway thru.

We've come to the end of the sisters story & Elegant Occasions events. I like the idea of the sisters finding a way to support themselves without being too far outside the Ton. That's a fine line to walk for an author.
Verity is the food part of the business, she knows what she's doing, has a great French chef, & apparently delivers a good experience to the customer. The matchmaking seems to be secondary to the business but it's still going on. We finally get to know who the Phantom character from the other books is & why he's been skulking around the family & events. Rafe is supposed to be a super spy, the Chameleon, and it's a bit unbelievable that Verity recognizes him 16 times no matter which disguise he's wearing, how could she see his real face? For it to be true he's a horrible spy and it becomes slapstick comedy. Of course there's a huge attraction & they fool around in places that should have led to a compromise early in the story. When it finally happens her ex-suitor is involved and where the heck did he come from? It's explained but it provided an opportunity for adding drama that was dropped. I'm on the fence about this book. I like it somewhat & the writer is very good. The cons were enough that I noticed them and didn't gloss over.
