A lot more action than the first two, but now Andre and Gabrielle's relationship has become annoying. Well, actually, Gabrielle is more annoying than ever. Andre keeps referring to her as "Soulmate", which is about as weird as my boyfriend calling me "Girlfriend" or my Dad calling me "Daughter." She has a name, so Andre should use it.
SpoilerAnd now, she's fated two two men?! She can't be that special. It's too much.

Nevertheless, I am still going to read the last two books. Although I am not as excited about the fourth one. I can't possibly imaging how much more overbearing Gabrielle can become.

Even though I didn't love the first or second one, as a fan of Laura Thalassa with an inability to leave a series, I continued.

Better than the first two but still not having me turn the page except to want to get to the end.

Leanne is the only character I can truly stand. Oliver needs to go away for a bit.

My Rating System:
5 ★ Masterfully created work of art with many strong qualities. Will re-read. Cannot imagine my life without it. Devastated it is over.
4 ★ Solid Work. Enjoyed from beginning to end.
3 ★ Decent with poor execution in some manner. Neutral.
2 ★ Wasn't good but not completely bad. Only 1 or 2 redeeming qualities
1 ★ DNF and/or no redeeming qualities

Something about this series always leaves me wanting. I can't really put my finger on anything in particular but I don't think I care enough to finish the series.

The Cursed by [a:Laura Thalassa|7152490|Laura Thalassa|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1372456585p2/7152490.jpg] is book three of The Unearthly series and picks up a few months after the events of book two. It's now Christmas Break and Gabrielle, though sad her friends are leaving is looking forward to a few days of rest. Her vacation is cut short though by the Politia when they call her and Caleb in to go investigate a ritualistic murder in Romania. Angels are being killed and drained of blood on alters reminiscent to the killings that occurred around Samhain two months prior. Andre de Leon is also in Romania facing trial for the massacre at Bishopcourt that occurred during the first book. He has done his best to keep Gabrielle away from the trial but now with her in the same city, she faces the wrath of the elder vampires.

I just want to take a moment and say how much I love Gabrielle and Andre, the plot, and of course the bad guys! This author knows what she is doing!!!!

Gabrielle is just as spunky and independent as she is in the first two books of this series. In this installment, you get a chance to see Gabrielle come more into her powers as both a Siren and vampire. And she is a little scary as a Siren, in fact I think she scares herself! Andre is the gorgeous, bad boy vampire that he always is. I love the few times the author tells the story from his POV and you will get a couple of those towards the end of this installment, and I will admit he made me tear up just a little bit.

The plot of this story is really intense and full of action/suspense. The angelic murders bring Gabrielle and Caleb to Romania, something that Andre is not happy about. But the murders go deeper into the main plot of the series, which brings me to the man in the suit, or otherwise known as the Devil. I don't know how many times I can say this before I annoy someone, but I love this villain. He is awesome and scary and intriguing and.....I could just keep going forever so I'll stop there, but you get the picture ;) One key plot for this book as well as the series in whole is the author finally reveals why the devil believes Gabrielle is his consort :::squealing:::

Sorry, you will have to read the book to find out why but it's a twist that I did not see coming and absolutely love!!!! So of course, if you have read books one and two you will definitely want to pick up this one and you should be forewarned that it does end in a cliffhanger.

Overall, if you enjoyed the first of the series you will love this addition! If you haven't read the series yet, I highly suggest you check out books one and two first. If you enjoy fantasy, mythological creatures, a little paranormal romance, then I believe you will enjoy this book.

3.5 stars.

Since book two was an okay read for me, I have hope this book would draw me back into the series. Now I finished The Cursed, I still don't feel strongly about it. Mainly because the newly reveal of Greek mythology twist in this book. I am not overly fond of
Spoilermodern Greek mythology twist, references.

->After the lack of relationship development for Andre and Gabriell in book two, I was glad this book make-up for it, mostly.

On the latest story development...

Once again, an evil plot is blooming to lurk Gabriell into her doom. This time, they might actually success. Too many coincidences that lead to only one conclusion, whatever is killing out there is intended for Gabriell to lead this murder investigation, but to what purpose? Meanwhile, Andre is away to stand trial for the massacre at Bishopcourt. While the devil is constantly haunting Gabriell in her dreams and sometime even in broad daylight. Danger is all around Gabriell, a group of devil worshiper will go to extreme measure to deliver Gabriell's soul to the devil. Scales will be tip, destiny is yet to be set in stone, how will Gabriell survive this time?

->So, at some point I would like to see the explanation of how Gabriell being a Soulmate but also a Consort for the devil as well. To quote from book 1 The Unearthly:

"...You have a single true love out there. Only in the supernatural world, it means your soul is inextricably bound to him or her; it’s a physiological, psychological, and spiritual connection.”

->Is Soulmate merely for romantic purpose? So far I am not seeing anything great about this connection. It would take more than tangle connection to impressed me.

In The Cursed, we learn yet another new prophecy on Gab. This new, or rather an old prophecy is
Spoilerfrom the mythology of “Hades and Proserpine,”
supposedly it's a prophecy about Gabriell and the devil.

->With that we finally learn the motive behind the devil's obsession for Gabriell, I think. This was a surprise twist, though I am not completely sold on this theory, perhaps we will learn more about it in the next book.

->So about this trial, since Andre is the King, does this mean they can't really truly punished him, if he is found guilty? Which would explain why the Vampires are trying to find faults and loopholes from Gabriell. Someone have to pay for the massacre. Poor Gab, I wonder who is on your side.

For Gabriell, it seem everyone is out to get her. Now the cat is out of the bag, she won't be safe anywhere she goes. However, at least the vampire community would know the importance of Gabriell is to Andre. ->but somehow I doubt this would stop the vampires to kill Gabriell. For Gabriell represent the extinction of the vampires species.

->I have a bit mixing feelings for Gabriell, one moment she is mature like, then the next moment she is acting like child. I understand she wants to be independent, but sometime she need to see the bigger picture.
Spoiler When Andre wanted her to stay in his house, so he can keep her safe->this is after Gabriell being kidnapped by the vampires to stand in trial. Gabriell turned the whole situation into Andre is treating her delicately, and of course Gabriell think she can handle everything herself->rolling my eyes. Which then turn out she couldn't be more wrong.->
I am all about independence, but there also something called being smart. Being smart to ask for help, to accept help, when you need it.

Andre and Gab's relationship progress rather slow, despise being soulmates, because the age differences and among other things, A and G (mainly Andre) have decided to take it slow. While they have expressed their love for each other in this book, they still haven't done the deeds yet->which is quiet alright, this is YA after all. Don't get me wrong there were plenty of sexy chemistry, and attention. But always at the last minute something would interrupted the moment. Given how one of the interruption was by the devil himself, I think Andre and Gab should just go for it, maybe then the devil would leave her alone. ->my wishful thinking of course.

To be honest this series started out good and interesting, I was looking forward to learn more about Gabriell and her heritage, and how would Gabriell affect the Vampires community. Then the direction of the book took a different turn, which are now mainly focus on the devil plus the additional new
SpoilerGreek mythology
twist, which aren't as interesting for me. I will be glad to see when the devil situation is situated.

So where the heck was that traitor? We never heard from him again.

->you know whom I am referring to.

Overall, I did enjoy reading The Cursed, I'll admit mostly because Gabriell and Andre's relationships are finally making progress. Even though I am not quite convince on the new plot twist yet. I will have to wait and see how this will unfold.

Happy reading!
