I believe I wrote that Dead Lions, the fourth Slough House book, was my favorite; but that is no longer correct because Herron's new Slough House is now my favorite.

It's well written (as per usual), frequently funny, and feels more personal than the others, which is probably because I've spent more time with the characters. One of the action scenes left me quite breathless, and I just thoroughly enjoyed the plot. I really like these books.

Mick Herron has some of the nicest, most delicious, sentences around. And Jackson Lamb continues to be one of my Top five favourite fictional characters. And I just saw a photo of Gary Oldman as him and he is perfect...
