The magna stylized art was a bit weird. They have artists who do the season continuation who match the series feel. The ending on this was rushed. One of the best parts of Buffy and gang fighting is how they make-up. Spike rushing to yell at Buffy but seeing she's upset and letting the anger flow away or Willow talking to Buffy about guilt as Buffy is being strangled

Captures the tone and feel of Buffy season 1. Bonus points for the Sweet Valley High-esque cover.

I picked this up because I enjoyed the cover and the title. Also, it came with the 2nd book and was only $5.50.

What I liked: I thought the story was nice. Kind of cliche, boring and predictable, but it was nice. The plot was cool, even if it was done before in Season 4 Ep 1 like people in other reviews have stated. Even though he was mentioned, Angel wasn't seen and I loathed him the most in Season 1.

What I didn't like: This reminded me of season 1 of Buffy and to me that season is the worst. Very monster of the week, Willow is extremely pathetic, and Xander is the toolest of toolsville. The artwork was bad.

Artwork: Not the greatest. While it was neatly drawn and clean, it reminded me of a manga. Xander looked like Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon. I wasn't here for it.

i read this in 5 minutes tops. Literally terrible...the art style was weird and childish looking, the dialogue at first kind of matched the show but then went way downhill. this story was definitely geared for a young audience and i wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, let alone the target audience. if i could, i would rate this less than 1 star.

I read this book all in one setting and loved it! I think it's a great reboot of the Buffy series and comics. I love Faith Erin Hicks as well as this series, so I figured I would enjoy it. In this version, a band of nerdy vampires gets kicked out of the vampire cool kids' club and wants to prove themselves by killing Buffy. But will one of the vamps bite the hands that feed her? A great look at cliques, friendship, and what's really important in life. Plus, Buffy beating the bad guys is just what I need to watch and read right now. I recommend it!

I wanted to love it, but it just wasn't very... Buffy. I can count on one hand the number of times I thought, now that sounds like the characters I know and love. It didn't capture the voice at all, and the art also seemed... off. It was like someone told someone a loose premise, and the second someone decided to make a comic about it.

This is a great comic - the illustrations and dialogue takes me back to early Buffy.

It's a great way to start the series if you haven't watched the show at all. And even if you did watch the show this book will make you nostalgic for it. I'm excited to see how the series continues 😊

Within the first few pages of this book, I knew Faith Erin Hicks was a Buffy fan. She had the tone just right - the Scooby Gang had all the same wit and snark of the show. This comic book takes place early in Season 1. It feels like a lost episode. It was really fun to read this, especially since I just finished rewatching the first season of the show recently!
