This is, objectively, the best installment in the Pendragon adventure. For many years I used to think it was The Quillan Games (and it even used to be my favorite book, still is but so is RR) but on this last reread I saw it wasn't quite as near perfect as Raven Rise is. This book just doesn't stop! It gives us sci-fi and historical fiction and dystopia all into one. I love how the plotting keeps stacking up and crashing in on Bobby, in a perfect boiling point to culminate in that scene. And I love the social criticism, albeit not super deep, DJM sprinkled in this book. It is specially poignant reading it now. I don't wanna be like “everything that's happening now is just like in Raven Rise” but yall this book is eerily prescient.
