Review and rating for One Thousand Beetles in a Jumpsuit by Dominica Phetteplace.
I actually really enjoyed it, a very interesting take on near-future scenario, almost quirky, blending the impact of corporate-controlled technology and new, rising ecosystem consisting of biomechanical robots.
The downside were that the main POV annoyingly kept mooning about her ex in her head space - give me more beetles instead! - and the ending kind of abrupt. However, other than those this one is rather memorable. 3.5 is the real rating.
The novelette is part of a series called Robot Country. It and its sequel can be read here: http://www.lightspeedmagazine.com/series/robot-country/
