This debut collection of poetry from a new young Black Canadian poet was really great on audio read by the author herself. Some were stronger than others for me but the whole listening experience was well worth the time. Highly recommended if you enjoy poetry by writers like Amanda Gorman. Many thanks to @librofm for the ALC!

More like a 3.5 I enjoyed a few of these quite a bit and overall the performance was great, but I wanted a bit more out of most poems. I felt like I was missing something big to tie it up in my brain.

This book hits hard. If you're looking for a bright fresh voice then this book is for you. And do yourself a favor and listen to the audiobook version. It is beautifully red and performed by the author.
