Lost Jungle Tales Starring Cat Girl collects three unpublished jungle tales with art by Pat Boyette.

I've been grabbing the Charlton Neo books on occasion and the title of this one caught my eye.

The title story is by far the best, a story meant for Red Circle's Blue Ribbon Comics before it was cancelled. Paul Kupperberg scanned photocopies of the original art and it eventually saw print through Charlton Neo. Cat Girl is an immortal jungle queen and takes on undead gorillas and the Black Queen, sort of a soul sucker, in this tale. Boyette knew how to draw ladies and monsters equally well, it seems.

The other two tales feature Jungle Jax, a white lawman/explorer in Africa. Jax takes on a murderous heiress in a bi-plane and a rampaging elephant. Boyette's jungle settings make me wish he had a stab at the Tarzan newspaper strip.

While I found all three tales enjoyable, Cat Girl was the best and even that one wasn't super remarkable. It was a fun enough way to while away some time on a Sunday afternoon. Three out of five stars.
