I have had Forgive My Fins for way too long now. I received for review and meant to read it long before now. And I am mad at myself for only now reading it because I adored it. It was cute, quick and such a fun read. And my first Mermaid book and it certainly won't be my last.

Forgive My Fins is about Lily, half human, half Mermaid. She has been living on land for three years and is head over heals in love with Brody. Lily wants to spend her life with Brody and on the night that she plans to tell him her secret. Things don't go to plan. Quince, her neighbour and the boy who has been teasing her for three years kisses her and everything Lily hope for is hanging by the thread and her happily ever after is threatened because when Mermaids kiss they bond and if her father, the King of Thalassinia doesn't approve a separation Lily will be bonded with Quince for the rest of their lifes.

Omg!!! I seriously just adored this little gem. It was everything I hope it would. I heard so many people rave about this series and when that happens I usually end up not liking the book. However, I didn't like this, I feel completely in love with it. The characters, the setting, the story line, just everything was fantastic.

Lily is one of those characters who are amazing from page one. In a way I think we can all relate to her because here she is totally crushing on a boy who has no idea how she feels. Come on, haven't we all been there? The boy in question is Brody. Popular and good looking but I personally didn't like him. He wasn't worthy of Lily's affection. However, there Quince. Who is totally swoon worthy and make me weak. Because its as clear as day how he feels about Lily. The chemistry between is what makes they story. Lily who is so shy around Brody seems to come alive around Quince. He irritates her to end and the banter between them is so funny.

The plot is very simple and you know exactly what is going to happen start away but it doesn't stop you being totally enchanted by the story. Tera Lynn Childs has create something so magical with Forgive My Fins. Her description of Thalassinia really makes you feel like you are there, swimming through the kingdom and among these mythological aquatic creature.

I highly recommend you go read this if you like Mermaids. And if you are wanting a cute, fun and quick read. I devoured this within a few hours. Starting around 1am and I stayed up until 5am because I simply couldn't put this wonderful book down.

I was very surprised with how much i liked this novel. I though i wouldn't like the idea of mermaids and that it would be very cheesy, but it was actually very, very good. I cannot wait to read the second novel and already have it on hold at the library. I love the cover, both with and without the jacket, and loved Quince the entire time. This novel definitely keeps you in anticipation over what is going to happen in the end and doesn't tell you until the last page. I would recommend this to anyone who loves romance, mythical creatures, and a book that will keep them rooting for the right guy.

This wasn't bad but I was over the "mer speak" in the first 5 minutes.

It could have gotten a 3 star rating but for the nagging about 'the bond', it surely annoyed the heck out of me...

2 1/2 stars. While I didn't completely dislike this book, I found the narrator Lily to be an insufferable brat for the majority of the story. She was hard to like. While she got better near the end, I was well over her by that time. I think I've also discovered that mermaids aren't really my thing.

I was so happy when I won a copy of this over on Lesley's blog My Keeper's Shelf. I'd been wanting to read it for a while so as soon as got delivered I wanted to start it, so as soon as I finished the book I was reading I started it. I wasn't really sure what to expect as I had never read a book about a mermaid and had never imagined reading a mermaid novel. I really enjoyed it.

Lily is a half-mermaid attending a normal human high school. No one knows her secret and she'll do everything in her power to keep it that way. However she is thrown into emotional turmoil and has to choose between two guys, Brody, the popular swimmer who's she's been in love with for 3 years and Quince, the one who discovers her secret and will do anything to protect her from everything. Even if it means giving up him whole world to delve under the sea with her.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a light, funny read which was just what I needed after reading multiple books that focussed on dark themes. I loved all the fish references in the narration and it made me laugh all the way through the book.
I really liked Lily, I felt for her, torn between two different worlds and not knowing where she truly belongs. At first Quince really annoyed me I thought he was just trying to sabotage her life and happiness, it didn't take me long to figure out he really loved Lily and found myself hoping she would forget Brody and end up with Quince.

I loved how the book was split half of it on land and half of it under the sea. Both worlds were described so well that you really saw the beauty of both which made you really sympathise with Lily when she tries to choose. I loved the personality of Lily, she was such a great character who didn't really care if people said bad things about her but was so loyal to her friends she wouldn't hesitate to stand up for them.

I really loved the ending, it was great and so happy. I was so glad at the things that happened. I'm so excited that there's a second book in this series and can't wait to read book two.
I loved that the book was paranormal but it seemed more chic lit than anything. I love chic lit books and this was such a great love story but with a twist of fantasy in it. If you like a love story and fantasy this is definitely a great book for you.

4 Stars - I really enjoyed it

This book is sugary sweet and silly with a capital S. It's exactly like a Disney Channel movie in plot, style and tone and is definitely aimed at the younger, fluffier end of the YA market.

Lily's father is king of the mer kingdom, but her late mother was an ordinary human. Able to take on both mer and human form, Lily has lived on land for the last 3 years, to experience life as a normal teenager instead of a mermaid princess. She's spent those years dreaming about Mr. Popular, Brody Bennett and getting wound up by the boy-next-door, Quince Fletcher, who is omigod, the most infuriating person she's ever met! She hates him more than anyone! And I'll let you guess who she's fallen for by the end of the novel!

But not before fights, misunderstandings, mistaken identities, jealousies...you know the drill. Lily acts like girls always do in this kind of teen romantic comedy, alternating between stammering around one boy and storming (or swimming) off in a huff about the other. The portrayal of life as a mermaid is in fitting with the overall cutesy tone: Lots of jokes about how much Lily loves baths and collects fish toys to remind her of home.

I'm hope I don't sound too mocking - I'm aware that I'm not the target audience for this and I think this book is perfectly readable and has its charms. The humour in Forgive My Fins, in particular, (which is mostly dorky fish puns like "Son of seaslug! I'll kick the living carp out of him!") fell into the so-corny-it's-cute category for me and I did laugh.

I would have preferred it if Lily were a stronger character throughout, but in the last 40 pages or so, she does wise up and has some surprisingly sensible thoughts about whether she's mature enough to know what love is and to choose a partner for life. And it was sweet when she finally got together with the right guy. I just wish the story ended there; the epilogue introduces a plot thread for the sequel that is very close to ridiculous. I'm just going to pretend it doesn't exist and that the book ended with the kiss.

With the talk of Banned Book Week and parents wanting to find age-appropriate books for their kids, Forgive My Fins is exactly the kind of read I'd recommend - I'm sure pre-teen girls will adore it. As for me, well. It's a little-known secret that I can watch High School Musical or Camp Rock on a lazy Sunday and not mind them at all. Maybe even smile at them a couple of times.

Non-evil mermaids with a magical bond. Cool. This has potential.

This book is about a love triangle. Seriously, that`s all there is to it. Lily is Brody, Brody, Brody. She is infatuated with him and she doesn`t see that he really doesn`t care about her. Brody. Even when she starts to acknowledge her feelings for someone else, it is still Brody.

Then the end came and BAM! There was an epilogue full of potential. Ummm, why couldn`t the first book be all about that instead of a love triangle.

This book didn't really do anything for me expect for practice on my eye roll. Hopeful the next book is a little bit less of a typical teen romance.
