2.5 a fast, compulsive read. Too much language though.

Julie Prentice moves her husband and twins to a new state to start over after an interesting situation with a stalker, but will this new neighborhood be the right move?

I call these book post it note books. The ones where you need a post it note to keep track of all the characters! With about four main families with husband, wife and kids, it took a post it note to make sure I kept them all together with their professions and such. I don't mind it if it helps me keep the large cast together and in this case it was definitely a must.

I really need to start being more selective about the books I read. With sooo much on my to-read list, there are probably sooo many four and five star books just waiting for me to read, that I don't need to be spend the little time I have to read wasted on one and two star books. I actually feel motivated to go through my to-read list and weed out books like this one. Enough said!!!

Fractured is in my opinion, the best book that Catherine McKenzie has written thus far. Her stories have become more substantial and solid as she has matured as a writer. This one kept me enthralled to the very end.

This story starts out pretty innocently. Julie and her family have moved to Cincinnati to start over, after a stalker has disrupted their lives. This time things will be good, they have left the bad behind. But things don't always go according to plan, do they?

Fractured is an intense story with a twisted story line. Bad things start happening to good, innocent people. But just who are those good, innocent people? Are they as innocent as they first appear to be and are bad things happening to good people, or are there bad people living in the neighborhood? I did not want to put the book down as I needed to get it all figured out.

I have read all of Catherine's books and I am always so excited when she has a new one out. I savor the words she writes and I just adore her stories. I look forward to each and every one of her books.

I received a free copy of Fractured in exchange for an honest review.

Received an ARC of this through Netgalley. Took me a while to read it - once I had it, it just sat there. Now I'm kicking myself for not picking it up sooner. This book has a lot going on - dark humor, crazy neighborhood associations, stalker(s), pranks that go beyond joking, and tragic mistakes. The narrative is a bit fractured, which I liked, as it really left me hanging. But I did take a star away, as I kept having to go back and think through the relationships ("Ok. John is with Hanna, their kids are...").

Still, well worth the read, and very well done.

Slow Tease Goes Off The Boil

Initially l really enjoyed this, however; the slow tease was too slow and ended up being a hinderence rather than an asset.
Too much tease just leaves you frustrated.

Whoa. That was some twisty writing. The author is brilliant because she has all the characters allude to "that day" or later, "the accident", but you have no idea who exactly was involved until the very, very end. I thought this book would be about stalking, but it wasn't exactly. And yet it was. I'm really not sure how to describe this book, but I can say that I really had a hard time putting it down. The author really drives home the idea that everything that happens is all a matter of perspective.

I received an advanced copy of fractured. Something about this book made me want to keep referring to it as the good neighbors. I’m not sure why but that’s what title that came to mind when I started reading. This is an interesting story in the way the author takes you through two different characters eyes and different times. The story was the kind of story that kept you questioning what would happen next and where the author was going to take you. I didn’t see any of the twists or turns coming which doesn’t happen often for me. It’s a read that you won’t want to put down until it’s over and will leave you questioning the truth.

More like 3.5. Too many unexplored/unresolved storylines but so captivating and well written.

The writing just lost me. There were so many holes in the story. They couldn't afford to buy food and drinks at a resort in Mexico, yet I'm sure that going to an expensive place like that it would be all-inclusive. Calling it Christmas Cake when that isn't an American term. Two characters who just happened to speak perfect french. I couldn't care about the story enough to get past these moments that would take me out of it.
