I really liked the twists and turns this book took me through and I didn’t see the final one coming until just before it hit me over the head. The glossing over of the domestic violence and Sutton’s imminent return to Ethan after they find out how they were set up was more disturbing to me than most of the murder in the story. By the end of the book, the reader is supposed to pretend that the abuse Sutton experienced at the hands of her husband was justifiable or that it was somehow fixed through therapy and their “new start” and I didn’t like that. I also didn’t like the thinly veiled fatphobia, misogyny, and biases towards people with mental health issues.
