Some of the shapes were a bit of a stretch - the rectangular window as a square, or the cups as round. The best part was the little glossary at the end that told more about the cultural background of some of the book's items.

Grace Lin illustrates this picture book about identifying shapes depicted in traditional Asian household items. The care and detail Lin gives to each and every object in her pictures makes this book truly a work of art.

A cute and fun way to not only learn shapes but to learn of a different culture. I also really like the words and definitions in the back to really help the kids. I wasn't the biggest fan of the art but it was still cute in the end.

Lovely book about shapes using primarily Chinese cultural objects/ symbols. Sweet illustrations and nice text and concept.

I think this was cute- it's a shape book, sure, but it's fully, unapologetically about a little girl's Chinese-American culture, too. I thought it was a great book for teaching two things at once.

Pretty cute book of shapes that shares examples from Chinese culture. I would have liked it more but some of the text felt clunky and I was seriously confused about the decision to exclude triangles.

Beautiful illustrations and culturally rich text. However, there wasn't really an underlying story, and I like to have that even in shapes/colors/counting/ABCs books. (For example, Mouse Paint is a book about colors that also has a satisfying story with a beginning, middle, and end.)

A super cute book that discusses shapes: round, square, and rectangle. This is a fun read for kids learning their shapes, expressed through the lens of Chinese culture.
