“There's a specific kind of grief that comes with losing someone you love, the kind that is always skimming just under the surface; the kind so universal that you can't help recognizing it in someone else, even if you don't know what you're seeing yet.”

😭😭😭😭 brb sobbing

this book has a lot of genuine charm to it. the characters are all a little silly and broken in their own ways, but they also all fit together like pieces in a puzzle. andie and milo UGH I LOVE THEM!!!! I love that the focus wasn’t just on them, but also on Andie navigating her grief that still feels fresh after years have passed and figuring out her place in a world she made to be her mom’s. just a beautiful story I could read again and again and again!!!!

I like that Emma Lord’s books are never JUST about the romance. They’re often about a main character’s self journey, and she just happens to find love on the way. Andie is a stressed out university student just trying to figure out how to navigate school, love, family, friendship, and what the heck you want to do for the future. I felt that the struggles were very relatable. Honestly a great cozy and light read to start the year.

UTTERLY CHARMING.

I have to be honest, the main reason I picked this up is the titles alone reminding of my favorite Taylor swift song. I’m a sucker for coming of age novels set at college where the people pleasing girl changing for the better. Get yourself a Milo who reminds you that you don’t need to earn your seat at the table. 😭

Didn’t find this too predicable. Truly loved every character and just loved how this warmed my heart. Can’t wait to read more. 🥹💛

This was the perfect story to read at the end of one year and the beginning of the next! Emma Lord has become an author that I absolutely trust to write a heartwarming, feel-good book. I especially loved the found family friend group in this one. I did predict a lot of the plot twists, but I didn't mind so much.

Funny and cute. Coming to know yourself and grow up as a college student just figuring life out.
Broadcast shenanigans and college campus games. Relationships and grief, “qwirky” relatable organiser main character and brooding mysterious love interest. At the same time familiar and engaging.

I fell in love with this found family very quickly! Andie’s new group of friends really came through, even when it would be easy to be torn apart by drama. Obviously I liked Milo the best - cute and grumpy RA with a heart of gold? COME ON! But I also appreciated that he had his own complex story too.
The secret-society ribbon hunt was a bit convoluted for me, but an interesting plot device nonetheless. While I found a lot of it predictable, the story and their interwoven relationships were very sweet and it made me nostalgic for my own college days.
