“There's a specific kind of grief that comes with losing someone you love, the kind that is always skimming just under the surface; the kind so universal that you can't help recognizing it in someone else, even if you don't know what you're seeing yet.”

😭😭😭😭 brb sobbing

this book has a lot of genuine charm to it. the characters are all a little silly and broken in their own ways, but they also all fit together like pieces in a puzzle. andie and milo UGH I LOVE THEM!!!! I love that the focus wasn’t just on them, but also on Andie navigating her grief that still feels fresh after years have passed and figuring out her place in a world she made to be her mom’s. just a beautiful story I could read again and again and again!!!!

UTTERLY CHARMING.

I have to be honest, the main reason I picked this up is the titles alone reminding of my favorite Taylor swift song. I’m a sucker for coming of age novels set at college where the people pleasing girl changing for the better. Get yourself a Milo who reminds you that you don’t need to earn your seat at the table. 😭

Didn’t find this too predicable. Truly loved every character and just loved how this warmed my heart. Can’t wait to read more. 🥹💛

This was the perfect story to read at the end of one year and the beginning of the next! Emma Lord has become an author that I absolutely trust to write a heartwarming, feel-good book. I especially loved the found family friend group in this one. I did predict a lot of the plot twists, but I didn't mind so much.

I really appreciated the balance of lighthearted-ness and deeper, meaningful conversation in this book. I think the grief element was done beautifully and appropriately for a YA book. The romance was very cute as well!

I may need a little more time to figure out why this book wasn't quite a 4 for me.

The story was cute and I liked the characters. I felt Andie had some great personal growth. I loved seeing the representation of bi/lesbian characters. I had suspicions what the major conflict would be pretty early on. The romance was somewhat slow (maybe I've been reading too much adult romance/ smut). But it was otherwise a cozy quick read.

I think my biggest annoyance was Andie's need to literally try and fix everyone's problems. Also her weird aversion to curse words, replacing them with food items. It wasn't cute... just annoying to me. Especially since shit and fuck were both used elsewhere. Also Andie was basically raised by snarky grannies who I promise swore.
