After the heights of the last Captain Underpants book, this one crashes back to earth. It reminds me of Book 2 in that the characters come across as mean rather than mischievous and the borderline humor crosses over and stops being funny and just becomes gross.

My kid loved this, but it is about as gross as you would expect from the title, haha.

This one was gross (and I assume Pt. 2 will be too).
More allusions, alliteration and onomatopoeia.

First read 2005: So I picked this book up around my house and read it just for kicks and giggles, and truthfully that's what it was! I couldn't put it down. It was fast, but funny.
Second read 2022: my daughter picked this out at the library. My kids loved it.

This book has the honor of being the first chapter book we've read with Kyle, who at 4 years old picked this off the shelf of the library. He loved it. Me, not so much. Although I suppose I'm not the intended audience.

I was literally gaging while reading the description of the booger boy to my children. They loved it! So did I.
