This book set out to try and prove that Walter Sickert was Jack the Ripper and it fails to do that.

It's a good biography about Sickert and a good book about Jack the Ripper, his crimes and what London was like in the 1880's but it does not show how Sickert could be the Ripper.

She accused other "Ripper" investigators of making the same "deductive leaps" she was making. There was too much in depth "biography" of people and places that offered no value to the story or her assertions.

Incredibly redundant. Once I found myself consistently skipping paragraphs in order to return to actual talk about the man she was accusing ~ only to find that she would again rehash an argument from previous chapters ~ I decided there were better things I could be doing with my time.

What a fascinating book! Patricia Cornwell makes a sound assertion that she knows the identity of Jack the Ripper. She tells the tale following the life of Walter Sickert assuming he is the Ripper all the way, while citing evidence to support her theory and interestingly comparing the investigation to what it may have looked like today with our superior forensic science.

This was a great read but somewhat disturbing at parts based on the nature of the Ripper crimes. If you read before you sleep like I do, try to think pretty thoughts after you put the book down!

I really did not enjoy this book. There sure was a lot of self boasting going on here. With so many may haves and probablys in the book I don't think we should even consider it a "CASE CLOSED" subject

For some reason, this book just could NOT hold my attention. I was disappointed because I had so looked forward to reading it.

Not an entirely convincing theory, but entertaining all the same.

An intriguing look at evidence but written as if the crimes were solved by their research.
