'Ghostbusters International' by Erik Burnham with art by Dan Schoening finds the team on an international trip to hunt ghosts around the globe.

Success is a good thing, but it can be too much of a good thing. When the team is sought out with an attractive buy out offer, the city steps in and agrees to take all the profits, leaving some of the team a bit disgruntled. The new deal sends the team internationally to Venice, then to Paris (my review copy only had the Venice portion of the story). The hope is that ghosts can be cleared out of valuable property, then resold for profit, but there seems to be more going on than meets the eye. The team finds a bunch of non-malevolent spirits lurking about Venice and then they find a ghostly plague doctor haunting an old building that used to serve as a prison and a mental hospital.

My copy was only the first half of the story, but I know they head off to Paris next. It's an okay story, but it only seems to serve to get the team out of town and into other locations like old tv shows would do. I don't have a sense of how this fits into a larger story, but it's the Ghostbusters and there are ghosts to be trapped, so it's good enough.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Diamond Book Distributors, IDW Publishing, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

I am a fan of Ghostbusters! I have seen the movies (except the new one - which I am looking forward to!) and also watched the cartoons many times as a kid. I was excited to see this graphic novel, but it is too "new" for me. I liked it as it was but understand that this is probably for new readers versus older fans like me. I did like the story.

Still filled with a good dose of fun and adventure, even if it’s filled with foreshadowing for a later volume. Not as strong as the other ones I’ve read, but still good.

I received this through Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

So we jump into a story line of the Ghostbusters working on an international basis and honestly, it didn't really stand out for me. I've not read anything Ghostbusters related before, yet have seen the original film, so I'm not sure if I was supposed to have read anything before hand. They did have footnotes to refer you to other issues, so I assume so... Anyway, I did feel like I was missing some thing and couldn't keep up with the jokes, though I still found the general humour rather funny.
In terms of art style, I didn't think it was anything special and found that the Ghostbusters, and some of their close female companions, looked really goofy especially when compared to other characters in this comic. Some characters looked really well drawn, borderline realistic, but with that obvious exaggerated cartoon-y style (particularly in terms of proportion), while others just looked kind of silly and overly exaggerated!
All in all, it's not something I'd buy myself or go out of my way to continue with. Maybe it's better suited to people who are already really invested in this world.

Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! ^^

It sets up a fun mystery. Art is good. Very fast read. Peter is still a charming dick.
