Similar to Tortilla Curtain, it is generally about social and environmental issues facing the world and focuses on specific characters within those issues. In this case it’s about the devastation of the environment and one man’s search for understanding and healing. I always like books with colorful and flawed characters - this one was good, but somewhat dated. I’d recommend it!

patchy and slow in places but overall excellent fun. i don't personally enjoy the names he finds for his characters but that's a bit nit-picky, don't you think? warning: this book makes you want to plant trees!

I wish he would be this brutal and poetic in all his writing.
