What a Great Beginning

This story is an exceptional opening to a wonderfully written Epic tale. Imagine the world development of Tolkien and Story Telling alike Orson Scott Card. Grab this story and delve into lives of characters like never told before.

This was a good story overall. I haven't read anything else in the series, but this prequel was descent. I liked the mashup of medieval and futuristic aspects, a sort of sci-fi and fantasy blend.

I have to say the dynamics of Ella's relationship with Rathan were a bit creepy for my taste, but overall the story was interesting.

Wow, what an amazing short story!
From the beginning till the end I was glued to it and that does not happen often. Ella was by far my favorite character that I have ever come across in any novel, she's such a strong and kind human being. And I loved learning about her and seeing things through her. If the rest of the books are as good as this I can tell I will love them as much as this short novel.
I totally recommend this short story to everyone!

There is some really thoughtful world building going on in this series. The reader is given a taste of how vast and complex this universe is, and the writer also did a great job setting up the conflicts between them. Ella and Rathan are a cool couple, and their story makes me want to read the rest of the series even if I know they aren't going to be in it. Apparently their kid is going to set in motion the plot for the rest of the series, and if this book is any indication it will be action packed. One aside though: who conceives a kid in the smugglers hold of a wagon? lol

An interesting story, a little violent in spots. Very fast paced. I enjoyed it.
