Interesting story about a farmer and a dragon. I enjoyed reading it. It was a funny story, not very serious.

Spoilers :
SpoilerI deducted some stars because it seemed very easy to tame a dragon. It did not even put up a fight against Giles. That seemed unrealistic as the dragon could have easily won had it fought with Giles

Want a short story about becoming your towns hero? Well ask me Giles, he wasn’t born into the hero business. He just happen to fall upon it, and through a series of events maintain and advance his status

Won't read this again. Surprised Tolkien wrote this. Perhaps I simply don't find short stories very interesting.

I enjoyed this one more than the Tom Bombadil book. Then again this is an actual story whereas Tom Bombadil was full of poems.

I loved the story and the writing style. It was funny and though originally meant for children, adults can read it as well and find even more fun things within the story. The farmer, a reluctant hero, and the king, a true caricature of the medieval kings, were my favorite characters.

If you think the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are too heavy for you yet but you really wanna read Tolkien, I suggest you start with this one

It’s crazy how long it took me to get to this, but I’m pleased to report that it’s a delightful and highly amusing story. It doesn’t have the impact or emotion or depth of The Hobbit, but that’s no problem. It’s short enough to be enjoyed in a day, but has enough wit and detail to bear rereadings.
