I love that this exists. As with most anthologies, the stories can be a bit hit and miss and are often too slight to be engaging or get you invested enough to check out more of that character, but there are plenty in here that are really sweet and fun. It's great that a lot of the comics aren't about their queerness, they're about them doing their thing whilst also being queer, but without any previous knowledge (which I don't have for maybe half the characters in here) some of the stories just feel a bit flat and leave you unsure who they are and why they're in here. That said, it's still hugely important that this exists. Even if you approach it in the most cynical way possible and assume it's just a cash grab for rainbow dollars, it's still giving a voice to queer creators and drawing attention to queer characters and stories so everyone can feel represented, seen, and valid in the media they consume, which feels like a nice step forward. Factor in the stunning pin-up gallery at the back and you've got a very enjoyable little anthology which I will look forward to every year!

My comic book club will be reading DC Pride: The New Generation so I decided to pick this collection up first to prepare and compare.
This is a collection of a dozen different short stories, following different characters and brought to life by different writers and artists. I find that with any story collection, your mileage may vary from tale to tale, and these stories are very short: you get a snapshot of action, a glimpse of personality. I was not familiar with most of the characters (which was not unexpected, as I don't read a huge amount of DC comics, nor superhero comics in general) but I still found most of the stories entertaining.
I appreciate that the stories in this collection do not necessarily focus on a character's queerness, and although the stories are generally positive, not every character is in a perfect place in their life. Overall I am very pleased with this collection.

Every story in this deserves 5 stars, but I would've given 5 stars based simply based on the fact that Hartley's story was called "Be Gay, Do Crime."
