I loved this book. Still enjoying the narration of distributed consciousness, and the continued exploration of what justice means.

It’s a slower pace, compared to Justice. There are a lot of sociopolitics that don’t grip and entertain quite as much as Justice’s tense revenge thriller (and I enjoy sociopolitics normally, it just wasn’t what I expected from Breq). I imagine it’s setting the stage for Mercy so I’m very excited to see where that one goes.

Darn, it's the end of the book!
And a nod to the publisher for warning us by black-edging the "extra" pages.
This wasn't what I expected as #2, but then I didn't really know what to expect.
I don't think it's spoilerism to reveal that this book does nothing to resolve or develop the split-Anaander situation. It's a static setting, full of situations and discoveries about justice and fairness and balance.
Makes us wonder why half-of-Anaander sent Breq here. Some sort of test to see if Breq is the right instrument for a Grand Plan?
But in the end, how can you not like a book that is about, as another reviewer put it, an "angry former spaceship"?
Well written, well edited, good characters, some action at the end, some deducing, and yes, justice.
If I read a better SF book this year, it'll be a doozy.

I'm not sure if this was more accessible than the first, or I'd just become familiar with the characters and the world, but I found it a quicker and easier read, and smaller in scope. Though certainly no less interesting, and especially of note was how it used the single gender pronoun (she/her) to play with the reader's assumptions and interpretation of relationship power dynamics.
