It was a nice easy read that flowed really well. The set up of the book was a bit different, following the thoughts and actions of several characters throughout, so there was never one main character. Interesting approach. I would read more by this author.

With quite a few story lines going on at the same time, from the beginning the reader is swept into a world in Arizona where a small town is hit with murders and mayhem. The true adventure is trying to find out where all the stories will connect and who is at the center of it all.

At the center of it all is Ali Reynolds who is trying to get to the heart of this town's problems and find out why people end up dead, shot or badly beaten. A cop, a missing girl and the local postman are all involved with the drama the town is having to get to the bottom of. I have said this many times, but I can not reveal the whos and the whats because this is so worth the read!

This review is short and to the point - I loved it.

Really loved the book. Liked the short chapters and the change in perspective as well as the sense of time that the author weaves into the plotline.

I love J.A. Jance but her new series with this Ali person as the main character is consistently lacking something. There are too many characters to keep straight and the stories aren't necessarily all that intriguing. I wish she'd go back to her other series characters.

I listened to the audio version of this book. Just one comment about pronunciation this time. Verde is not pronounced "Ver-duh".

One comment for the author: "Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." is NOT the last line of the Lord's Prayer.

This was honestly much better than I was expecting, and I wanted to leave a review because I think Jance may deserve more readers and fans than she currently has. Having found this book in one of the little free neighborhood library boxes, I was anticipating this to be 3 stars at best. I was pleasantly surprised by the twist at the end and who the killer turned out to be and didn’t find the plot to be outright ridiculous or completely unbelievable. I found the pace to be a little slow at first however, and I thought there was a lot of character building for a book where a lot of those characters died. I would have rather have seen more background on Rose and Humberto compared to Phil and the nuns. This book didn’t wow me, but I still enjoyed it and thought it was unique compared to other mysteries I’ve read.
