I read this as a child and loved it, and finally got around to re-reading it. In places, the author forgets he's writing a xenofiction, and there's a few obvious plot holes- but given that this is Mr. William's first novel, it is a stellar piece of work over all. I love the cat cosmology and world building, and his writing style flows quite well.

This was such a wonderful animal adventure story. On the level of Watership Down or Shardik, but it's also like Bilbo's story with monsters a-plenty. I would almost give it 5 stars, but it does ramble some. The best part of the story is when you get to the end and revisit the journey in context. Thoroughly delightful.
