For a story in which the MCs wake up married, I enjoyed the amount of dates they went on and the way they got to know each other after the fact. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a demiromantic character – only demisexual – so it was cool to see Elliott’s self-discovery. I also really liked all the praise, both in and out of the bedroom.

On an unrelated note, I read Riley Hart’s Married to My Best Friend last month, which included 52 and 76 instances of the words “husband” and “married” respectively. It seems the author has a bit of an obsession with these words, which were used 130 and 102 times each in this book. This isn’t a complaint, just an amused observation.

3.5/5 stars, rounded up to 4.

Drunken Vegas Wedding is not often something I really enjoy and yet Riley Hart manages to win me over. With the lead in character development before the wedding, the fake but real marriage made sense and it allowed for Elliot and Parker to get past assumptions about each other and fall in love. Add in Parker's praise kink and one of the best friend groups and this was one of my favorites i've read so far this year.

***ARC Review***

This is my honest review for the ARC I received.

This is the second book in the Vers Podcast series. I love this series and this group of friends. Parker is considered The Romantic on the podcast he shares with his best friends.

Parker is a baker who LOVES romance. Parker meets city planner Elliot, who helps Parker get our of a situation with an ex. There seems to be a moment between them, it passes, and Parker sees Elliot with someone else. Thus begins Parker’s slightly prickly attitude towards Elliot. Fast forward and the pair meet up again in Vegas. Elliot flirts with Parker and asks him out. Parker turns him town. Parker has had a horrible track record with dating, so he has taken a “sex sabbatical.” They have a night of drunken shenanigans and wake up married! (Such a good trope). After the inevitable freak out, they quickly decide to fake being in love and stay married for six months, in order not to disappoint their parents.

Parker and Elliot have to get used to one another as husbands and roommates. They have an undeniable attraction between them. Parker really tries to resist it and stick to his sabbatical, but eventually both men give in to their attraction and omg do they have chemistry! I love that Elliot (and Parker!) discover Parker’s praise kink.

During their time together, Parker describes what he wants in a relationship. Elliot takes notes. Elliot isn’t sure that love is for him, so it’s really sweet when he listens or notices something and does kind things for Parker. Elliot is a sweetie at heart. Parker takes quite a while to realize that Elliot does those things he described about a relationship in their marriage.

One of my favorite aspects of this book is Elliot’s budding friendship with Sebastian, Declan’s beau. I love that these two men were able to be there for one another. It was also great seeing the other guys from the Vers podcast. This group of friends is so special! Elliot’s family, his best friend Vaughn, and Parker’s dad are great additions to the cast of characters as well.

As Elliot and Parker draw closer, both have to deal with their feelings for one another. Don’t worry, Parker and Elliot achieve a noteworthy HEA. The Santa Monic Pier scene is amazing! The epilogue is a nice treat as well. Now can I say how much I’m looking forward to Marcus’s book?!
