This was a surprisingly delightful Kindle read. It was perfect vacation reading. Not too challenging but well-written and charming.

Pretty good. Liked it enough to check out the next two in the series, anyway! I like the main character so far.

For The Soul

This book, was beautiful. It's everything you'd expect and more. The relationship Jen learns to have with her mother, her boys, Gerald, the town, and lastly, the Lord are an overwhelming reminder of what we all need in our lives! I needed this book, and didn't even know it. Isn't it amazing when God sends you something so simple as a book to remind you of what He provides?

The forgiveness and selflessness she grows to find can only be found through God. I will love this book forever. And I will allow it to find my friends as they need.

I hate when I accidentally pick up Christian fiction off a library display. It's always conceptually has an interesting plot, but the actual writing and characters are always seem weak and forced. I liked this one okay for what it was (interesting plot, lame characters, and forced Jesus conversations and Christian morals). Honestly, I'm only giving it three stars (versus two) because I legit cackled when her ex-husband was in the car wreck. CACKLED.

I liked this boook. It showed the strength of a single mother who has the will to start over again. She never gave up and made her kid's lives better.

Read this for book club. It was ok, but the main character really annoyed me throughout the book.

While I wasn't as captivated by the book as I was the first time around, I still enjoyed it and the way Hunt told the story, creating engaging, believable characters even though an event at the end carries a touch of deus ex machina. This book and the remainder of the series survive round two of the purge from my personal collection.

A review from my old blog...

Finally reading this book after having read about almost every part of the process on Mrs. Hunt's blog was quite enjoyable. I saw how different points she mentioned fit into the overall story.

Like usual Mrs. Hunt does not fail to please. She changes between first person scenes narrated by the main character Jennifer and several other third person scenes most of which are seen through the point of Joella, Jennifer's mother.

This book deals with many issues.. at least one of which touches close to my life... and deals with them in such a way that I can actually understand how being a mortician is not as morbid as it may seem. I honestly couldn't believe it when at the end I understood how taking care of a dead body can be such a ministry to the living.

I would tell more about the plot but I really can't without giving away spoilers that would ruin a first time read.

I loved this book and am amazed that I have yet to read an Angela Hunt book that I do not thoroughly enjoy.

This book was much better than I expected for a free Kindle book. The characters are well done and the plot works. I enjoyed it.
