A clever picture book idea with lovely illustrations done in watercolor, colored pencil, ink, collage, and digital media. The story is a set of words that flow one way and then are reversed as owl takes his journey away from home than back again. Very simple text up to four words per page. This would be a fun book to read to a class and have them create their own journey picture book.

Reviewed from a library copy.

My two year old was pretty bored by this. I appreciated the art and the palindrome nature of the text, but to compare it to [bc:Owl Babies|716944|Owl Babies|Martin Waddell|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1408930554s/716944.jpg|2961469] Owl Babies is ridiculous.

Gorgeous. Simple story, a bit sparse for me.

Beautiful! This would be great for a baby storytime or a bedtime themed one. Also works well as a comp to Kitten's First Full Moon and Orange Pear Apple Bear.

Gorgeous illustrations, simple words, simple story; actually, not much of a story- but probably a good one for reading with a little one who's learning words.

Four words per page describe what the owl is doing in the illustrations as he ventures out on his own to explore the woods at night. Halfway through, when Owl sees Owl, the words reverse for his return journey back to his home. A lovely story with stunning illustrations that begs a repeat reading after the final words.

The text is lackluster, such that I don't want to read this aloud for storytime, but the illustrations are beautiful and atmospheric.

A very cute story with one word sentences. Perfect for storytime but slightly on the long side.
