"I do have a fondness for beautiful things, especially ones in need of saving."

Annie is the 30-yr-old FMC on a life journey of discovering who she is without the blur of being attached to a long-term partner.

Annie is single. She has accepted a new teaching position. She is moving into her own apartment in a new town. New town means new friends.

Sophie enters the picture.  Sophie's classic, ageless beauty and poise draws Annie in like a moth to a flame. Sophie takes Annie under her wing and builds her confidence in an occult fashion.

Cackle is a cozy paranormal novel with some likeable characters...especially, Sophie. I enjoyed reading this easy, slow-paced book. Images of the house from the 1999 film The Haunting come to mind while Annie is following Sophie into the woods with promises of pie. I cannot possibly imagine a better way to be welcomed into the witchy realm. Pie and a spooky house in the woods...say less.

Annie is insufferable tbh and i would've enjoyed this so much more if it were a sapphic novel
