i feel like artificial condition didn’t quite live up to the enjoyment i had with the first one, it took me a lot longer to get invested in the story which isn’t great when the audiobook is only 3 hrs long. i liked the 3 ppl who hired murderbot and wished they had more page time. art was equal parts hilarious and infuriating and i really liked the dynamic between the two.

I’m enjoying this series. The rogue SecUnit introduced in the first book (All Systems Red) wants to find out more about his past, which has been wiped from his memory. He calls himself a murderbot because really he was designed to be a killing machine— and I’m not entirely sure using a masculine pronoun is right, but I haven’t read anything that would specify. I suppose the unit could also be female, or non-gendered. Or maybe “he” is so much machine that he is an “it.” Anyway. I’m rambling. It’s fun to watch the unit continue to figure out how to operate as an autonomous being, including making friends with various different humans and AIs. Will definitely continue on to the next in the series, Rogue Protocol.
