This was very interesting and fun. I liked his travels and how he knew so much about biology and geology and everything. I liked how he generally didn't linger on anything for too long so it was always interesting. Cool to see his thoughts 20 years before the release of On the Origin of Species. Also I thought that it was quite well-written. However, I honestly think that he is one of the most racist non-fiction narrators I have ever read from. Most historical accounts I've read seem to have a casual racism coming from ignorance... but Darwin actually just thought that he was above the native inhabitants of the land in every manner, which was not nice to read. Overall, this didn't take away from the book's rating as it is a product of its time. I still enjoyed it very much. The majority of the book was exactly what I wanted.

I love seeing world through the eyes of someone who is utterly fascinated by the new discoveries that were being made around him.
It was so interesting to see the way he spoke about things and see the way he thought and considered things.
I would love to read more of this book!
