A beautifully illustrated short story about the Darkling's formative years.

This adaptation did a much better job at connecting Grisha infighting with Grisha persecution, so the narrative made sense in relation to the resolution and character development. The art was nice; I particularly liked the light line weight and the lettering.

However, this was definitely not as entertaining as the original short story on which this is based. The original content was snappier, and I preferred the narrative structure of present-past-present as it created mystery and a sense of foreboding. Unfortunately this was pretty linear and even added unnecessary events - it seemed like there was an excess of panels used, too.
