The Trial by Fire series was amazing. It was an emotionally charged read but had some hilarious moments. There were definite situations where you could see glimpses of the author’s own playfulness and humour shine through Ryan. It even broke through my walls and helped me in ways nothing else ever has. It just keeps getting better with each book.

If you can think if every way to abuse a man from youth through adulthood this is exactly what happened to Ryan. Tragically every turn of the page leads to more and more abuse - how can one man survive and learn to live and love again? This was honestly one of the most emotional and devastating book I have read in quite some time. Cole Denton wrote with such passion and honesty that although difficult to read, I was captivated and just wanted Ryan to flourish.

I’m clueless how to rate this book because although I read this inhumanly fast, I felt like the trauma was too much. But I’m excited to start book two and get to the romance

Wow! Intrigued

I must say it was hard at first due to content but it was so real and raw...you feel tormented for Ryan. But the story simply sucks you in and you can’t put the book down. The characters are real and you feel the agony and pain. Even though Ryan has been through hell and back he is still a man looking for something. I am eager to see how his journey progresses in the next book.

Unsure

I’d rate this somewhere between a 2.5-3 so I rounded up. I feel very conflicted with this book, I get the need for some background information on the character but I felt the majority of this book was drawn out and a little repetitive and a little much.

Ryan's family is so sickeningly messed up that I don't even know how to rate Forged.

Yikes

This was really hard to read, honestly. So many triggers in this book, but I get it. We've gotta see the whole path to understand what comes next, and I'm certainly all for things getting better for Ryan. He goes through way too much and I'm hoping that things only go up as his story progresses.

This is a story that will have your heart splintering for the vulnerable main character, Ryan.

An horrific upbringing; abused by his own family, sickening memories are recounted and relived. New hope as Ryan finds his escape in college, then employment and new found friendships, he is first and foremost a survivor as he paths a new life for himself.

Whilst there were points were I personally found new characters introduced into Ryan’s life felt rushed, there is no doubt that this is an astounding first book which really was an attention grabber and offered an emotional and raw read. I’ve already one-clicked the next book in the series.
