Lana's Toy by Wednesday Noir

A kinder, gentler, perhaps even more natural tale of a female-led relationship, Lana’s Toy pushed all the right buttons for me. It’s very much a chastity story, but one that relies on her force of will to accomplish the same sort of control and denial that a cage would otherwise enable.

In fact, this is a story of dominance and submission that makes minimal use of the usual paraphernalia, and which never descends into humiliation or degradation. Instead, Wednesday Noir explores a love between husband and wife that encompasses the little things like foot-rubs, laundry lists, baths, and dinners, but which also can slip into more formalized role-playing. It’s a relationship that feels intimately familiar to me, one that I found myself at home in.

Despite the pet-name ‘Dolly’, Patrick is neither emasculated nor effeminate. He is very much Lana’s husband, fully capable of being her lover, but like a toy . . . like a dolly . . . he belongs to her, and that means she decides when and how he gets played with. For Lana, that means a lot of teasing, some exquisite edging, and almost ritualized orgasm denial. It’s erotic and intense, and there’s a clear power exchange there, but it’s never cruel. She is stoking the fires for when she’s ready to enjoy a mutual release, and no matter how much he might beg and plead, he embraces that.

Well-written, with realistic dialogue and erotic details that are explicit without being vulgar, Lana’s Toy makes the most of its three short chapters to explore a female-led relationship that teases the reader as much as it teases Patrick, but which ultimately builds to an entirely satisfying climax.
