This is a book that shouldn’t be rated. It is a piece of art that need not to be judged. The story of happiness does not need to be judged, a story of childhood and youth does not need to be judged.

This book is so incredibly crafted and written. You feel as if you are in the story and experience it all in front of you. The characters in this book become your friends.

I keep coming back to read this book, not because I want to finish it and add it to my list of books read this year, nor to find out the ending, but instead to escape into a world where everything is possible and magic and happiness surround the air.

Just like the flowers in the secret garden, this book grows on you

I read this one when I was a “precocious child”, but for book club we are reading it again and it was just a delight. Sure, I have my feelings on some of the saccharine sweetness of it all, but it’s a children’s book about the regular magic of nature and companionship and love and that feels like the sort of thing worth celebrating.

I can’t wait to talk about this one at Taylor Swift book club on Thursday! 💛

Book #2 of 2022: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

I hate to admit this, but I had never finished this book before this read.

It felt really repetitive. By the end I was just begging it to wrap up. It had such a nice start and reminded me of the read I had as a younger person. But by the end I was just begging it to be over already.
