Douglas wakes up one morning feeling a little blue and needs .... yep ... a big hug.

No one will hug him. He can't even hug himself as he has such a big belly. Aww.

Dougless even resorts to hugging trees ... starting from the bottom ...

Guess who he finally gets his hug from? Not telling ...

At the end of the book there are lots of poses for different types of hugs - the unrequited hug still makes me grin. And I've seen toddlers giving these hugs too ... soooo cute.

Great way to say, I Hug You or rather I Love You

Douglas is such a gentle giant - I heart him lots!

I checked this out from the library not remembering that I read it before. I still love the book. It's just too cute and I want to hug all the sheep too. Nov 8, 2019

Oh poor Douglas. He needs a hug. I would give him one in a second. I love the illustrations, especially the little sheep he gathers and hugs. And the one on his bottom. Too cute.

Douglas wakes from hibernation and wants a big hug. He tries hugging a rock, a tree, and several animals who aren't interested. I love the last two pages. I can't wait to read this to my toddler.

3.5/5 cute, humourous story about a bear on a mission to find his perfect hug! Ideal for reading aloud with children aged 4+ with bright attractive pictures and a relatable story that will amuse and delight young readers.

This book is great for teaching children that not everyone likes to be hugged. Children could learn to ask first before giving hugs and this is a great book in order to be able to teach that. The book has great pictures and cute characters to enhance the story.
