A sweet and honest feeling look at the complicated realities of middle school friendship. Something I would absolutely be thrilled for the little girls in my life to read and consider.

Gotta give Mango props:
If anyone had said to/about my mother what Brook did (now or when I was twelve), I'd have torn the little brat's hair out and told the adults to shove it when they demanded an apology.

I loved Mango and her earnestness to be true to self and others. This book approached friendships with a fresh look and I loved the different direction Hyman took for it that was both encouraging and authentic.

The "hip lingo" was a little hard to get into but FINALLY a book that tells girls it's okay to have multiple friends instead of searching for their one and only BFF.
