Accidental Gardens is a decent collection of (mostly) prose pieces from poet Rob Carney. Many of these essays originated on Terrain.org during the Trump presidency, and reading them after that person's departure from the Oval Office feels a bit dated, besides leaving behind unpleasant memories of an era best relegated to the rearview mirror.

However, there are worthwhile highlights in these pages, particularly those essays that reflect upon the author's poetic practice. The simply-titled "Poetry" is one such, with "Win $300.00", "Downhill Switchbacks Ahead" and "What Would You Do With a Mini Canoe?" further evidencing Carney's ability to articulate both the mechanics of verse and the ways in which poetry can evolve from the experience of thoughtful and engaged living.
