This book is an excellent quick history of the how and why of the American right re-tooling the Hamiltonian maxim of power belonging the hands of moneyed elites, or more philosophically, in the hands of those who will grasp and wield it. Roth does a great and to-the-point (without much hand wringing) job of spelling out not only what Republicans have done to limit voting and why they want to do this (and more of it) but also shining a light on the differences between Democrats and Republicans, something there's not really enough of in poli-sci books I read. Well-written and well-cited (it's short, but you'll be looking stuff up), this is a book to be purchased and handed to anyone voting in the next cycle, and now, while the events are fresh.
