This is such a heart warming story about a Grandpa who writes a letter to his granddaughter voicing his hopes for the future of the planet whilst reminiscing on his favourite memories with Mia. This is perfect for discussing climate change with children and ways we can look after the planet.
I am obsessed with the illustrations in this book. Morpurgo and Field have created a truly beautiful story!

I love this book! A fantastic story told through a letter from a grandpa to Mia. Grandpa talks about his favourite memories with Mia as well as his wishes from the future. The book discusses climate change and looking after the planet in an informative and moving way. I would use the book in lower or upper KS2 where I think children will be more able to engage with the longer story and be interested in ways in which they can help the environment such as by planting trees. Although there is a Christmas theme at the beginning and end of the book and the book would be best used around this time of the year, the rest of the book is set in summer so could be read at any point in the school year. A great book which I will definitely have in my classroom.
