I really liked this. I see people rave about the Odd Thomas series all over, and thought it would be good to ease into it, or just try it out, with no novel committment. It was interesting enough that I will seek out the novels. I don't think we were given enough details in the graphic novel, but at least I'll go in with a basic understanding of his character.

If you love the characters of the Odd Thomas novel series, you'll enjoy this manga version, but it's not the most exciting plot ever. The dialogue is especially delightful!

This is my second attempt at Koontz or third, I can't be sure. This one reminded me a little of the first I'd read. It had a regular guy who didn't want to be famous, doesn't want to live in a big city, or anything but possesses a gift. In this case he can see ghosts. There is a girl, she's pretty and tough. They been together for a few years I think. The only reason they haven't gotten married is because something in Stormy's past still prevents her.
The illustrations surprised me because it looks like animae; though my knowledge in graphic novels, comics, manga, and the like is very limited.
The whole 'we are one' thing between him and his girlfriend kind of sounded strange. I've heard of soul mates and stuff which I can understand it to an extent but in this graphic novel I just couldn't get a sense for it. I could maybe chalk it all up to having only limited amount of air time for the couple I guess.
The mystery itself was interesting I guess but I still didn't feel any suspense in it. I kind of felt like it was just saying this is what happened, and then this is what happened, etc. Although I did get a small sense of the characters' personalities I couldn’t really feel for them at all. My view of the characters is very apathetic.
I just wasn't invested at all. If I wasn't having a lazy day I might not have finished it at all. Usually I don't finish a book I would give 2 stars but it really was just okay for me.y

I Had to Read this Book Because--Hello--It's Odd Thomas
I stumbled across this book at a friend's house. Although I generally don't like graphic novels, once I realized there were more stories in the Oddoverse, I had to read this one. The story is solid. Evil, crafty villain; heroic Odd; fun, gun-packing Stormy. I even laughed a few times, which was nice. I can't speak to the quality of the illustrations because I know nothing about graphic novels, but I could tell what was going on in the pictures, which hasn't always been the case with other graphic novels I've looked at. I considered that a serious plus.
If this story had been presented in Koontz' delicious prose, I would have given it a five, as I did the other Odd Thomas books. The three indicates not that the book is mediocre, but that the best response I'm ever likely to have to a graphic novel is liking it, as I generally dislike the genre. The fact that this book got a three is high praise coming from me, so if you like graphic novels or Odd Thomas, I think you'd enjoy this book. I'm gong to read the other two, and I expect I'll like them as well.

This book was in comic book form. It was kinda neat for him to do it that way but also too fast of a read. I blew right thru it.
