I enjoyed this one but I think it is because it gave something a little different from vampires, werewolves and zombies. But even though Ghouls to me are very close to Zombies this had a neat twist to it. I don't know why but I wanted him to put coffee on his rice and such and enjoy it. Like the coffee would be a salt to him. carrying a little thing of coffee. I am thinking of going to read the other books from this manga

tokyo ghoul, volume one follows an ordinary college student named ken kaneki, whose life suddenly goes sideways when he has a violent encounter that turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. trapped between two worlds, he must survive ghoul turf wars, learn more about ghoul society and master his new powers.

ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 overall
this is my first ever manga read, and i was so excited to start this that i started literally the day i got it! i really loved the show, and i’ve heard people say that the manga is better, so i decided to try it out! the characters are just as loveable as they are in the show, and the plot is just *chef’s kiss.* this is a great introduction to the plot and the characters, and obviously not too much action has happened yet. i love the art in this, it looks so cool!

Tokyo Ghoul has been on my list for a long time and as my first real foray into horror manga, this didn’t disappoint in the slightest. I was legitimately terrified at points whilst reading it but I also couldn’t put it down. The illustrations in this are absolutely insane and add so much to the horror of the ghouls, making Kaneki’s struggles of being both ghoul and human, even more frightened to the reader. The use of the Kafka story as a sort of parallel with Kaneki’s own story works so well and the moment when Kaneki woke up and he first had the eye was genuinely brilliant! Cannot wait to see what happens next!

This was a great start to the series and I'm excited to continue it! This a great horror manga for beginners to the horror genre like me.
