The concept--excellent. Simply hearing a summary of the plot gives me goosebumps. However, many of the short stories didn't quite live up to my expectations. When someone summarizes a plot, what they never mention is the filler language in between. With that being said, this still was a good read. I thoroughly enjoyed many of the earlier stories, specifically the ones that heavily featured the King in Yellow.

The short stories that involved The King in Yellow were 5 stars but, and maybe this is due to my own biases, the more whimsical, less horror oriented short stores in this collection were not as well written/didn’t grasp my attention as much. Still, I’d highly recommend this collection especially the first five short stories. Truly a brilliant piece of weird fiction and cosmic horror.

The first four stories that cover The King in Yellow are very interesting. After that, he quickly departs from the theme and genre into fantasy and lost my interest.
