[b:Chasing the Boogeyman|55711747|Chasing the Boogeyman|Richard Chizmar|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1626009186l/55711747._SY75_.jpg|86884160] was one of my favorite reads from last year, making Becoming the Boogeyman my most anticipated read this year. Perhaps when you set your expectations so high, you are bound to be let down.
Now, don't get me wrong. I wasn't let down all that much. In fact, I very much enjoyed this story. It was just as twisted as its predecessor but there were a few things that stood out to me that were bothersome.
- For one: it seemed more scattered. Passages were included that were completely irrelevant to the rest of the book and the plot. Example:
Spoiler(did the story of Grace Sunday have any relevance to the main plot? If it did, I can't seem to find any..)

- For two: it didn't feel as entrancing and I think this somewhat ties back to my first point. The side stories took me away from the main event and would cause me to lose interest.
- Last but not least —and this was a HUGE bother for me— there were one ten too many random references to Stephen King. It got to the point where each reference just made me more and more angry. Like we get it, you guys are friends.

Overall, it was still well worth the read and I quite enjoyed the journey, and the story is definitely set up for a third Boogeyman book to come.
