The initial two-issue Millenium story which kicks this volume off is the best thing going for Bendis' Legion of Super-Heroes, the most interesting and well-written portion of the entire series, in fact. Rose and Thorn seems to me to be the only character involved which Bendis actually has some sort of a handle on. But then, for reasons known only to Bendis', Rose is barely seen in the plot going forward.

Bendis plays with some neat ideas, has some fun with Silver Age concepts and characters, and the art's often quite good, but unfortunately the end product is an unmitigated mess. I'm a fairly big Legion fan, I bought all the issues directly off the stands and only just got around to reading them, and, ultimately, I'm pretty disappointed.

I love a good Legion reboot, and this is a good Legion reboot. I can't wait to see what comes next in this beautifully rendered reimagining.

This is not my Legion. It's somewhat chaotic and confusing, the art is... functional, and I have almost no sense of the characters. If you are a long running LSH fan, I am warning you now: this is not the Legion you grew up with. I am a little confused why this first book has focused so much on non Legion characters (Superboy, while great is not what I read LSH for, and I couldn't care less about Rose). Also, if you're not a long term legion fan, I'm not sure how well you'll understand this. Still, while this isn't my Legion, it is the Legion, and I will take whatever comic I can.

i'm a pretty big Legion of Super-Heroes fan.. most all of the LoSH books i've read were written by Paul Levitz; despite the giant cast of characters, it wasn't all that difficult to follow new storylines or new iterations of the Legion because it was all coming from the same writer..
now it's BMB's turn..
i was confused for half of this tpb but to Bendis' credit it felt like a true blue LoSH book. i'm interested in the next volume but unfortunately not any time soon.

A nice reboot that fleshes out how the Legion of Super-Heroes formed, and what they have to do with Superman's son.
