I really enjoyed this book like it slayed. I loved the characters, the story, and the setting. I thought all of the characters were interesting and unique, but they were all connected in a way. I loved learning about Mila and her past throughout the book while we were also learning about her in the present day, and learning what an impact her past had on her.

I had high hopes because the premise is so interesting to me but it felt predictable and fell flat.

I thought this book built up emotions very well and was a really interesting and melancholy look at the past of the main character Mila, and how she comes to find a home in her chosen family.

A quiet, introspective, and somber kind of book that is beautifully written and very atmospheric. It almost felt like an extended short story, making a very quick read but also one that makes you want to read slowly. Although it was slightly repetitive at times, and I think it could have benefitted from another few pages, I really enjoyed reading this! LaCour's prose gets more and more lovely with each book.
