Isn’t it funny how hard it is to describe a good man? He’s a brave man, but deep down, he’d rather be taming horses.

screaming crying etc

It is no small feat to condense the gargantuan narrative of The Iliad onto one man, in one(ish) hour. But this monologue goes above and beyond to shape Homer's story for modern audiences. The narrator's ageless and mysterious nature adds intrigue as he transforms between characters and massive tides of emotion, whilst smartly placed modern similes / references add a kind of relevance that really sets this production apart. I hope I can see it performed live someday!

Maybe it's better to watch it than it is to read it, but man, this was painfully overwrought. Like being beaten over the head with a lecture about why war is bad. I don't know that it really added anything to The Iliad; the explication was obvious.

I liked this more than I thought I would. It’s a Trojan War retelling… sort of… but it’s an hour long monologue where this drunk dude talks about certain notable figures in the war like Achilles, Hector etc. The only think that still baffles me is how you can remember that much uninterrupted dialogue. Eh, people gawk at all the details I can recall so I suppose it is not too far fetched.

felt like it rambled a bit but it had its moments; would likely be much more hard hitting on stage (that one's on me) though i still feel like certain sections (the lists tying into modernity) go on for too long. effective in its message.

The ending lists of war are scorching.
