Awful book! Very old fashioned, fatphobic and surprising sexist. Absolutely not for me!

Overall loved this, found it really informative and insightful, and I like how it's based around the timing of antenatal appointments. There's some great diversity in birth stories, too. It's just a shame about some of the body-shaming language, there are a few mentions of 'getting your body back' and one point where Clemmie describes her post-baby stomach as less 'acceptable'. Her opinions of her own body are of course completely valid, and it might help some women to feel 'seen', but for me it was really unhelpful/unnecessary/triggering to play into that narrative

I found the author’s tone to be condescending and annoying. She makes so many assumptions and unhelpful generalisations. AND the book itself is riddled with typos. Not a useful/enjoyable read. I did like the birth stories, though! More of these for free on Clemmie’s blog :)

I thought the start of the book was a joy rubbish, but once she started talking about prepping for labour and actual labour, I found it very useful and informative.
