What a fun bio of Amanda Gordan. I loved learning about her life so much and I can't believe I look up so someone so much younger than me, but I do. I love it.

Gorman's performance of "The Hill We Climb" was spellbinding. Even my Latinx high school students recognized that they had witnessed something special, even if they didn't understand all the words. Her performance proved that poetry is powerful, that its rhythms and words can move people. In Sanchez Vergara's biography we see that these are lessons Gorman learned from a young age which is why she was able to craft such a masterpiece at such a young age.

'Amanda Gorman' by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with illustrations by Queenbe Monyei is another book in the great Little People, Big Dreams series.
Amanda Gorman is best known as the young poet who won the crowd at Joe Biden's 2022 inauguration. But before that, we learn that she grew up with an auditory processing disorder and a speech impediment. This makes her accomplishment at 19 even more remarkable.
As ever, this series impresses. The illustrations by Queenbe Monyei are perfect. Recommended for young dreamers.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and NetGalley. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

Ich finde es toll, dass selbst so jungen un dwenig bekannten Personen wie Amanda Gorman ein Platz in dieser Reihe eingeräumt werden. Eine sehr inspirierende Person und ein solider und passender Zeichenstil.

Amanda Gorman is a new biography for young readers in the Little People, Big Dreams series. I've reviewed a number of these titles and all of them are delightful and exuberant little books which cover the lives of famous cultural, science, arts, and innovative icons while maintaining an age-appropriate level of detail. Due out 3rd March 2020 from Quarto on their Frances Lincoln imprint, it'll be 32 pages and will be available in hardcover format.
Even before she burst onto the wider cultural consciousness as the vibrant, graceful, and intelligent poet at the inauguration of US President Biden, this accomplished young woman had already fought challenges in her own life, overcoming a speech impediment and the challenges of being a young black woman in a country split by divisiveness and pain.
Written by Isabel Sánchez Vegara it's written in clear accessible language. The gentle and sweetly whimsical illustrations are well done. The art by Queenbe Monyei is appealing and colorful and supports the text very well. The art is rich in small subtle details which bear a closer look (like the books, animals, multicultural children and adults, and more which appear throughout the book). I love to see so many kids and adults reading in the illustrations!
Well written and appealing, I am really enjoying all of these little books. This one is a worthy addition.
Five stars. This would make a superlative reading circle book, classroom library book, or gift. Ms. Gorman is an intelligent and beloved figure and has become an icon for a more hopeful and cooperative future and this little book is a nice introduction to her life and work for the youngest generation.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

This is a typical entry into the Little People Big Dreams series. While the story is fine, I don’t think it gets to how young Amanda is. Is, as in, still is. This makes her seem like an old lady of the past, and not a young bright woman with half a century still in front of her.

I enjoyed this one. I adore Amanda Gorman. I thought this didn’t dive too in-depth into her life, but I enjoyed it all the same.
Recommend for fans of Amanda Gorman.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This was a delightful short read, and I'm glad that they've added Amanda Gorman to the collection of inspiring role models. Though short, the story provided an inspiring arc of the young poet's life, marking some of the challenges and triumphs along the way. I wish the authors had more carefully charted those points in her journey, but I still think it will be a valuable addition to young readers' libraries.
